Police arrested a Las Vegas man after he attacked a real estate agent who had confronted him about squatting on a property.
Police responded to a report of a potential burglary on Oct. 13. The people in the home provided a fake lease to police and were ordered to leave the home. The police were called back to the property later in the day when neighbors reported that a man was attacking a real estate agent outside of the home.
The real estate agent told police that he was investigating reports of squatters in the home.
Tomarriane Wilson, 23, was arrested in connection with the attack. He told police that he rented the home from a man he and his wife had met at a grocery store about a week ago. Wilson’s wife allegedly gave the man $1,800 to rent the property.
Wilson said that he had returned to home to remove some of his belongings from the garage when the real estate agent approached him. The real estate agent had parked his car in front of the garage so that Wilson couldn’t get into the garage, according to police reports. Wilson told police that he had grabbed the rake to defend himself. He alleged to police that the agent had punched him in the face.
Neighbors say they saw Wilson strike the real estate agent several times with the rake’s handle.
The real estate agent has a cut to his hand that severed an artery. He was rushed to the hospital for emergency surgery.
Wilson is being held in Clark County Detention Center and faces charges of battery with a deadly weapon that resulted in substantial bodily harm.
